SGS YES Learnerships 2026 (Youth Employment Service Programme)

Through the YES (Youth Employment Service) Programme, SGS offers unemployed South African youth the opportunity to gain valuable workplace experience and practical training in the inspection and laboratory industry.
SGS YES Programme 2026 – Available Locations
SGS is currently looking for qualifying candidates based in:
- Barberton
- Randfontein
Successful candidates may be required to relocate to these locations.
SGS YES Learnership Duties and Responsibilities
Participants in the SGS YES Programme will be responsible for the following:
- Cleaning and maintaining the workshop or site after tasks are completed or at the end of the day.
- Ensuring all consumables used during work (such as masking tape, containers, and materials) are properly disposed of.
- Adhering to all quality, health, and safety requirements within the SGS management system.
- Reporting any deviations, irregularities, or non-conformances to supervisors.
- Performing field and laboratory work, including:
- Sampling
- Calculations
- Conducting test methods accurately
- Maintaining discipline and professionalism within the assigned department.
- Completing any other reasonable tasks assigned by the Site Supervisor, Laboratory Manager, or Regional Manager.
Minimum Requirements
To qualify for the SGS YES Learnership 2026, applicants must meet the following requirements:
Education
- Minimum Grade 12 (Matric) with Mathematics and Science
- Good English communication skills
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
- Be a South African citizen with a valid ID
- Be between 18 and 33 years old
- Be currently unemployed
- Not have participated in a YES Programme before
- Have no criminal record
- Be willing to relocate to Barberton or Randfontein
Skills and Competencies
Successful candidates should demonstrate:
- Strong computer literacy (MS Office – Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Interest in data analysis
- Strong research and analytical skills
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Good organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently
- High levels of initiative and motivation
