Seriti Bursary Programme 2026: Applications, Requirements & Eligibility
The Seriti Bursary Programme 2026 offers financial support to top-performing students pursuing tertiary studies in critical fields within the mining industry. This bursary aims to empower talented South African youth by funding their studies at accredited and registered Higher Education and Training Institutions, including mainstream South African Universities and Universities of Technology.
Fields of Study Funded by the Seriti Bursary 2026
Seriti is inviting applications from full-time university students enrolled in the following disciplines for the 2026 academic year:
- Electrical Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Environmental Studies
- Geology
- Mine Surveying
- Mining Engineering
- VOHE (Ventilation & Occupational Hygiene Engineering)
Who Can Apply for the Seriti Bursary?
To qualify, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be currently registered for a degree or diploma (NQF 7) in one of the approved fields.
- Be entering 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year of study in 2026.
- Honours-level students may apply only for Geology and Environmental studies.
- Applicants must enroll at a registered South African tertiary institution.
Minimum Application Requirements
Applicants must submit the following:
- South African ID (must be a South African citizen)
- Latest academic results showing a minimum 60% average
- Updated CV
- Proof of official registration for the required field and year of study
- Demonstrated basic knowledge of mining-related legislation, including the Mine Health and Safety Act
Value of the Seriti Bursary 2026
Successful candidates will receive comprehensive funding, which includes:
- Full tuition fees for 2026 (Excludes previous failed modules, outstanding balances, or interest fees)
- Accommodation and meal allowance
- Pocket money
- Book allowance
- Once-off laptop allowance
Terms and Conditions
- The final bursary award depends on official 2026 registration and final 2025 academic results.
- Students may be required to complete vacation work and a work-back period, depending on Seriti’s business needs.
- Priority will be given to applicants from local communities near Seriti operations.
- Applicants cannot be funded by any other bursary or sponsorship.
- Only full-time students may apply.
- 1st-year students, bridging course students, and foundation-year students are not eligible.
