The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) is pleased to announce that applications for funding for the 2026 academic year are officially open. All eligible South African students are encouraged to apply early to secure their financial assistance.
Who Can Apply?
- South African citizens with a combined household income of R350,000 or less per year.
- Students with disabilities whose combined household income does not exceed R600,000 per year.
- Applicants who wish to study at a public university or TVET college in 2026.
- Both first-time applicants and returning students who have not been funded previously.
What Does NSFAS Cover?
If approved, NSFAS provides funding that may include:
- Full tuition fees
- Registration fees
- Accommodation (subject to conditions)
- Living allowance
- Transport allowance
- Learning materials
