Stipend and Benefits
This opportunity provides a monthly stipend to help cover your basic expenses while you gain meaningful work experience.
Please note: The stipend is not a full salary and does not cover relocation or long-distance travel costs. Applicants are encouraged to apply for positions within commuting distance.
About the Nedbank YES Programme
The Youth Employment Service (YES) is a national initiative designed to create work opportunities for unemployed South African youth. Nedbank proudly supports this mission by offering young people hands-on work experience in its Contact Centre operations.
Through the Nedbank YES Programme, participants will:
- Gain exposure to the banking and financial services industry.
- Develop customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Strengthen their employability and career prospects.
Placement Location
Successful candidates will be placed at the Nedbank Contact Centre in Umhlanga Rocks, Durban.
Key Responsibilities
Depending on your assigned role, your daily tasks may include:
- Delivering excellent service and support to Nedbank clients.
- Upholding Nedbank’s core values: integrity, respect, accountability, and client focus.
- Performing duties in sales, service, or collections functions.
- Identifying opportunities to promote Nedbank’s products and services.
- Managing client interactions through various channels such as phone, email, and SMS.
- Supporting your team by collaborating, sharing knowledge, and maintaining high performance standards.
Minimum Requirements
To qualify for the Nedbank YES Programme 2025, you must:
- Hold a Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate (Matric).
- Be between 18 and 29 years old (born between November 1995 and November 2007).
- Be currently unemployed.
- Not have participated in any previous YES Programme.
- Be a South African citizen (African, Coloured, or Indian as defined by the B-BBEE Act 53 of 2003).
- Have a valid South African ID.
Skills and Competencies
Applicants should demonstrate the following:
- Proficiency in English (written and spoken).
- Ability to communicate in additional South African languages (advantageous).
- Basic computer literacy (Microsoft Office and general digital skills).
Working Conditions
- Work Hours: 8-hour shifts per day.
- Availability: Weekends and public holidays may be required.
- Location: Fully on-site at the Nedbank Contact Centre in Durban.
