What is DPSA Circular 39 of 2025?

  • Circular 39 of 2025 is the official weekly vacancy circular released by the Department of Public Service and Administration.
  • It lists job opportunities across national and provincial government departments in South Africa — permanent posts, contract posts and occasionally internships or learnerships.
  • The document acts as a key reference for job-seekers who want to apply for posts in the public service.

Important Instructions for Applicants

  • You must use the new Z83 application form (effective starting 1 January 2021) when applying. Applications submitted with the old Z83 form will not be accepted. Each application must be fully completed, signed, and initialed where required. Incomplete or unsigned forms will be rejected.
  • When you apply for a vacancy you must quote the correct reference number as shown in the circular and clearly indicate the job title, department and location.
  • Applications must be submitted to the department advertising the post. The DPSA publishes the circular but does not receive or process individual job applications.
  • Late applications (submitted after the closing date) and applications that are incomplete will usually not be considered.

What the Circular Covers

  • A wide variety of positions across many government departments: education, health, transport, human-resources, security etc.
  • Both national and provincial departments are included.
  • Some posts may also include requirements for employment equity (preference to youth, women, persons with disabilities) in line with transformation policy.

Eligibility & What Employers Look For

While each job will specify its own requirements, typical criteria include:

  • Must be a South African citizen with a valid ID document.
  • Must meet educational qualifications required by the specific post (e.g., Grade 12, diploma, degree).
  • Must attach certified copies of ID, qualification certificates, CV and other requested proof.
  • Must not be currently in another training programme if the post indicates that condition (for internships/learnerships).
  • Have good communication,
