Minimum Requirements

• Good communication skills.
• Flexibility to work weekends, irregular hours, and after-hours shifts.
• Must be medically fit (a medical fitness test will be conducted).
• Basic understanding of health and safety practices.
• No criminal record (SAPS verification required).

Key Responsibilities

Environmental Monitors play an active role in supporting SANParks’ conservation objectives. Duties will include:

• Assisting with stock control, asset management, vehicles, and equipment.
• Performing in-field administration tasks such as logbooks, reports, and timesheets.
• Recording and monitoring conservation resource information.
• Helping with conflict resolution involving contractors.
• Assisting in fire management activities.
• Cleaning and maintaining campsites and monitoring fencing.
• Participating in alien invasive species removal and rehabilitation projects.
• Supporting waste management and reporting activities.
• Taking part in environmental awareness programmes with local communities.
• Performing other conservation and ad-hoc duties as assigned by supervisors.
