Job Description
The Handyman is responsible for performing general maintenance and repair tasks in various fields, including but not limited to plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and HVAC. The incumbent will exhibit a high level of expertise in troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining facilities, equipment, and systems as assigned. The Handyman will work both independently and as part of a team, ensuring timely completion of tasks.
Responsibilities:
1. Perform a wide range of repairs, maintenance, and renovations in different areas, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and HVAC.
2. Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair equipment, appliances, fixtures, and systems within assigned areas.
3. Conduct routine inspections to identify maintenance needs and potential hazards, reporting any issues to the supervisor.
4. Install, assemble, and repair various structures, fixtures, and equipment as needed.
5. Respond to maintenance requests promptly and efficiently, ensuring work orders are completed in a timely manner.
6. Communicate and coordinate with other team members, supervisors, and contractors to ensure smooth workflow and completion of projects.
7. Ensure all repairs and maintenance comply with safety regulations and adhere to established standards.
8. Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance, and inventory of tools and equipment.
9. Assist in developing and implementing preventive maintenance programs and procedures.
10. Provide support during emergencies, including after-hours and weekends, as required.
Qualifications:
1. High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications are a plus.
2. Proven experience in performing general maintenance and repair work, preferably as a Handyman or in a similar role.
3. Strong knowledge and hands-on experience in plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and HVAC systems.
4. Proficient in using tools, equipment, and materials commonly used in maintenance and repair work.
5. Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to effectively diagnose and repair issues.
6. Good understanding of safety practices and regulations related to maintenance tasks.
7. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively interact with team members, supervisors, and clients.
8. Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
9. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
10. Physical ability to lift heavy objects, work in confined spaces, and perform tasks requiring prolonged standing, walking, and bending.
